Total Lunar Eclipse May 26: What You Need To Know

Get ready for more big changes as reflected by the astrology of (Spring) Summer 2021. Right on the heels of Saturn retrograde, we see the Moon in Sagittarius experience a total eclipse. In traditional astrology eclipses were viewed as malefic events, progressive astrologers prefer to describe these celestial events as "markers of foundational changes."

The Total Lunar eclipse happens at 4:12 am PDT (7:12 am EDT) with the Moon resting at 5 degrees 26 minutes Sagittarius. These are the little details that matter, because on an individual level we need to know where in our chart this particular event falls. This of course is a direct impact for those with the Gemini/Sagittarius placements within orb to the Moon, it's very felt by Virgo/Pisces placements (within orb), but everyone - regardless of placements will experience change in some way, because transits activate houses, too.

(Not sure where 5 degrees 26 minutes Sagittarius/Gemini is in your chart? Check out this free intro to reading your natal chart here.)

Since astrology has had a popular renaissance and anyone can create content online, you're probably seeing a whole lot of information that gives a blanket prediction for those with Gemini and Sagittarius placements. Here's the deal, astrology is about precision and just because a celestial event occurs doesn't mean everyone with placements in that sign are directly impacted. With an eclipse, we all feel the event but to what degree depends upon our individual charts. If you have placements or angles (house cusps) in the 0 degree to 13 degree 26 minutes of Gemini, Sagittarius, Virgo or Pisces then you will have a more profound experience around the eclipse (either on the day or within three days, with the theme lasting approximately six months). Personal planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars) will bear more of the weight than tertiary (Jupiter, Saturn) and outer planets (Uranus, Neptune, Pluto). That being said, the Pluto in Sagittarius generation could be said to be getting an activation en masse (on a personal level it depends on what else is going on in the rest of the chart.)

For those who don't have placements in those signs/degrees you will more likely be witness to the changes, or feel the changes in a certain area of life (the house where the eclipse falls and it's opposing house) to a much lesser extent.

To the ancients eclipses were considered malefic events, because they always herald big change. As the eclipse will be visible in North America, we can expect big changes in the geographical locations where the total lunar eclipse can be viewed. Expect anything from a major issue with transportation, communication (either devices or out right communication devices), higher education, political rhetoric and even politicians stepping down or being removed. This is on the mass consciousness or mundane level, on a personal level you are able to be deliberate and choose your reactions, it might be a little more of a challenge during such a strong full moon, but you are able to be deliberate.
